A marvel – a marvel of flavour and simple, delicious dishes. Don’t worry about the name – this is very much more than a fritkot. It’s a restaurant, and what a restaurant! Step inside, and you will quickly forget that you’re in the third millennium, and take a trip back to the good old days – when grandma made the mussels, the steak carbonnades, with the meat cooking in its own juices, for you and your little brother/sister. After all, this is when most of us first discover a taste for the finer foods, a passion that doesn’t tend to disappear with the passing of time.
And this is the inspiration behind Friture René – fine flavours of simple dishes that are still made the way they always were. Dating back as far as 1932, the restaurant has always been a family affair – three generations working towards a single vision. The décor is similarly preserved, from an era when Brel was singing – a faultless establishment.
